Omega-3 fatty acids, at least eicosapentaenic acid (EPA) ja docosahexaenic acid (DHA) have been associated with improved cardiovascular outcomes in earlier randomized trials (JELIS, Gissi Prevenzione ja DART trials). In this recent Dutch randomized trial, EPA, DHA ja alfalinolenic acid (ALA) supplementation as margarine did not prevent coronary outcomes vs placebo. The used doses of EPA and DHA were less than 400 mg/day. Kromhout D et al. N Engl J Med 2010; August 29. (e-pub ahead of print)
